Yesod sh’b Chesed*
Out of the heart of the seed
thin pale tongue tunneling,

life’s first earthy taste
midst rain drops sinking in.

This is how we learn love,
by drinking and sending

the first green shoot outward
into airy spaciousness,

into the light.  This!
is what births us.
