Omer Day 44-Our Grasslands

                                     Gevurah sh’b Malchut/Shechina*
Here, as we gaze this morning across the valley,
the history of our journeys round our globe.  Rolling
hills, sprouting meadows recall first treks across

African savannas.  Is this why we keep creating
vast sweet-scented, freshly mowed green swards?—
Front yards, back, hay fields, ballfields, golf courses, parks?

Black crows dive angle-winged down, cawing,
croaking to catch and swallow six-legged leapers
bouncing into air, sinking back among the blunt cut blades.
